When I hear Republicans talk about the budget, all I can say is "pul-eeze!" They're all born again small goverment Hayekians now that it doesn't matter. Maybe they can go after gays or immigrants - that's real attractrive. I don't think I'll go back to voting Republican anytime soon. The thing is you haven't heard a peep out of the MSM about this (at least I haven't). I just hear more about how Republicans and conservatives are antiquated and angry. And sometimes racist. I think there's getting to be more and more bipartisan anger, at least among us lowly citizens. Note: I do not mean Nazism, which combined the central state power of Fascist theory with German nationalism, anti-semitism, and a full willingness to commit genocide. However, pertinent to the present case, Fascism does not require that the state own the industry, only that it exerts full control over industry in terms of setting production (e.g., deciding what kind of cars will be built and how many and by who), contractual terms (e.g., whose contractually agreed upon bonus gets cancelled), wages (e.g., 'prevailing wage' requirements), and prices (e.g., what mortgage rates or profit margins are acceptable).
