Florida Seeks the Death Penalty Against Casey Anthony
The state of Florida has decided to seek the death penalty against mother-of-the-year Casey Anthony:
In a dramatic reversal, the Florida state attorney’s office announced Monday it will seek the death penalty against Casey Anthony, the 23-year-old woman charged in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.
The state had previously said it would not ask for the death sentence for Anthony.
I fully support the use of the death penalty, especially against a woman who would kill her own child. This is a suspicious case, though. It took the grandparents, who the child and mother lived with, three weeks to realize and report the child was missing.
Then, there were the stories the mother told of how the woman watching the child had taken her. Add in those Internet searches they found that showed someone in that household was looking up how to break a person’s neck, and the evidence that a decomposing body had been in her trunk.
If this woman is in fact guilty–my magic Eight Ball is telling me that all signs point to yes–then she should get the death penalty. In fact, she should be killed the same way her poor daughter was killed. That little girl wasn’t shown any mercy and she’ll never get a second chance at life. Why should the person who murdered her?
