Children taking personal responsibility for health care.

This kid is really serious about personal responsibility. No government hand out in the form of S-CHIP for him. He’ll just smoke enough packs to pay for it himself!

I’m sorry. I found this video and I just couldn’t resist. This may be taking it too far, but we know that I have been promoting smoking for quite some time now. I have mentioned how our government has made smoking desirable.

First of all, smokers are paying for children’s health care by supporting the new and improved S-CHIP bill with a tax increase on cigarettes of $1.01. Second of all, smoking helps keep people thin, which helps them use less energy, which is good for the environment.

The tax increase on cigarettes that are supposed to fund the expansion of S-CHIP, and the propsed taxes on sugar-filled beverages and alcohol, discourage consumption. I mean, let’s be honest, if these taxes lead consumers to cut back on these items, and these new programs–expansion of S-CHIP and the new “government-funded” health care–are being funded by these problems, then there is a foreseeable problem here. If they are passing these programs through the public by arguing that these programs will be paid for with these excise taxes, and these excise taxes lead to less consumption of said products and therefore less money for these programs, will the government then cut back on said programs? Where else are they proposing to get the money from, other than by taxing my private health insurance and private savings accounts?

OK, I’ll be honest. I just wanted to post this video of a toddler smoking so I could get some more death threats from people in the UK. They really get worked up about this stuff! Two of them have said they are going to report me to the police. Another is reporting me to the government. And, others got so vulgar I actually had to just delete their comments. I have to say, it makes me smile when I wake up to people commenting I should be shot.

Realistically, though, all of these programs are going to cost money and they are going to get it from us any way they can. The idea that they won’t be taxing people who make less than some arbitrary dollar amount is absurd. What, is it only people who make over $250,000 a year who buy cigarettes, sugar-filled drinks, alcohol, and will be purchasing vehicles between 2012-2016? Because, if anyone making less than that amount plans on buying any of those items they will be paying extra taxes in order to fund these programs. I’m going to mark that campaign promise as officially broken.
