Obama heads back to doing what he does best: Apologizing to the world

It looks like Obama is returning to the thing he does best–and no, it’s not reading off a teleprompterit’s apologizing to the rest of the world, of course:

President Obama travels to the Middle East on Tuesday in an effort to repair a damaged U.S. image — and seemingly reset relations with the Muslim world.

It’s a process that has been in the works since his first week in office.

“My job is to communicate the fact that the United States has a stake in the well-being of the Muslim world, that the language we use has to be a language of respect,” Obama said in a January interview with Al-Arabiya television network. “I have Muslim members of my family. I have lived in Muslim countries.”

In a speech to the Turkish Parliament, Obama tried to make a clean break from the rhetoric of the Bush era.

“So let me say this as clearly as I can: The United States is not, and will never be, at war with Islam,” he said.

According to estimates, there are more than 1 billion Muslims in the world, the vast majority of them moderates who want to hear that they are part of the solution to world security.

Obama says the goal of the speech that he’ll deliver in Cairo on Thursday — and of recent efforts to reach out to Muslims — is to “open a dialogue.” Watch more on the challenges Obama faces in the Middle East »

“There are misapprehensions about the West on the part of the Muslim world. And, obviously, there are some big misapprehensions about the Muslim world when it comes to those of us in the West,” Obama said in a recent interview with the BBC. “And it is my firm belief that no one speech is going to solve every problem. There are no silver bullets. There are very real policy issues that have to be worked through that are difficult.”

Sorry, did I forget to mention he’s worried about repairing our relationship with the Muslim world more than anybody else? Priorities, people. Obama’s worldview thinks that if we make nice-nice with the terrorists they won’t want to terrorize us anymore. I have a feeling I know how that’s going to end…

I think we need to point out to Obama what is in his job description and what is not:

Defending America from foreign and domestic enemies: IN
Apologizing to the World: OUT

Upholding the Constitution: IN
Taking over private industries: OUT

Appointing Supreme Court justices who will enforce the Constitution: IN
Appointing Supreme Court justices interested in setting policy from the bench: OUT

Who wants to play along? Come on, you know you want to. There’s just too many for me to go over them all!

  2. Wow Paul, that was lame. What’s your next put-down – “I know you are but what am I”?

  3. So for the last thirty to forty years, Muslim extremists have been committing acts of terror. Is that because an American president has never said sorry?

  4. I whole heartedly agree with you Moe. And I think that instead of America trying to repair our relationship with the Muslim world, it should be the other way around. The Muslim world needs to reign in and condemn their extremists and apologize to the rest of the world for letting their Muslim faith be hijacked by thugs. And having an apologist president like Obama is a disgrace to the very country he represents.

  5. Al Qaeda has beheaded a British hostage in Mali, It seems that the Muslim extremist’s treatment of their prisoners hasn’t quite caught up with the Geneva Convention, even after President Barrack Hussien Obama’s show of compassion to those in GITMO.
Maybe after he gets done with his speech to the Muslim world, Al Qaeda will see that President Barrack Hussien Obama is a friend to the Muslims, and they will be nicer to the prisoners and hostages they abduct. Wouldn’t it be nice if they would just waterboarded the next ” Daniel Pearl”, maybe next time……….
Or is it more probable that they are sensing this country, under President Barrack Hussien Obama, has lost the willngness to fight the war against them. If this is the case more terrorism is coming. If President Barrack Hussien Obamas policies are the case then peace is only an apology/speech or two away.
