As I head to CT, it’s good to know they’re turning on Dodd

I am from Connecticut, so none of this is truly surprising to me:

Everything you need to know about false Hope and Change can be found in one picture: The image of President Obama embracing embattled Sen. Chris Dodd.

The embattled Democrat is in deep doo-doo over his Countrywide sweetheart home loan deals, corporate bailout cash, and crony associations. New revelations by Countrywide whistle-blower Robert Feinberg confirm what more and more of Sen. Dodd’s constituents in Connecticut are coming to realize: He’s a lying crapweasel. Dodd denied knowledge of the special treatment the sub-prime mortgage company had given him and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad on home loans. (Dodd’s were worth more than $800,000). Feinberg flatly contradicted him in secret testimony on the Hill this week.

Connecticut voters are not smiling about Dodd’s hypocritical bashing of lobbyists on the airwaves while he parties with them behind closed doors. And as they scrimp through the recession, they haven’t forgotten about Dodd’s dozy Irish cottage deal with convicted insider trader Edward Downe, Jr. (who received a Clinton pardon with Dodd’s generous help). Sandra Harris, an unaffiliated voter from West Hartford, told the Hartford Courant: “I’ve lost respect for him…It’s time for a change.” A Quinnipiac poll now shows that 60 percent of key independent voters disapprove of Dodd.

But Dodd’s cratering numbers and mounting ethics scandal aren’t just about Dodd. Damaged birds of a feather flock together. Even before these latest disclosures, Dodd’s approval ratings had dropped to their lowest levels ever. Yet, President Obama – agent of the “new politics,” erstwhile Breath of Fresh Air, guarantor of all that is good and clean in Washington — declared his support for Dodd’s 2010 re-election campaign bid.

“I can’t say it any clearer: I will be helping Chris Dodd because he deserves the help,” President Obama announced in April. “He just has an extraordinary record of accomplishment, and I think the people of Connecticut will come to recognize that.”

The only thing the people in Connecticut have come to realize is how much of a crapweasel Dodd is. Obama would be smart to distance himself from this idiot. Even my ridiculously liberal mother has turned on Dodd, while she still loves Obama. He can only hurt himself by supporting someone who has been so blatantly exposed as a scumbag politician.

Oh well! What do I care? It’s not like I want Obama to win in the next presidential election. Dodd is a scumbag and the voters in the state of CT realize this. I don’t understand why any politician would associate with him. Once again, this just shows Obama’s weakness. He’s so impressed with himself he thinks he can get away with anything. He is “The One,” after all. The voters of CT are smarter than that, though, and will eventually turn their backs. He would be smart to distance himself, as much as possible, from Dodd in the future.

I don’t have a car, but let me buy you one!

Can anyone, please, explain to me why I’m paying for people to buy new cars:

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told colleagues Friday morning that the House will vote today on a measure to transfer $2 billion from the stimulus to replenish the depleted cash-for-clunkers program, which has run out of money in its first week.

Under the fast-track bill, Democratic leaders will use funds from a renewable energy loan guarantee included in the stimulus, according to the bill text, obtained by POLITICO.

The bill would extend the program through Sept. 30, 2010. Democrats have portrayed the run on cash for clunkers cash as a great success for the $1 billion program, which allows car owners to turn in older, less fuel efficient cars for a $4,500 tax credit to purchase higher gas mileage vehicles.

“Cash for Clunkers may have run out of cash, but America’s consumers haven’t run out of clunkers. We’re going to work with the Obama administration to keep this wildly successful program going until it reaches its goal of helping consumers take 1 million gas guzzlersoff the road,” said Rep. Ed. Markey (D-Mass.), who co-authored the legislation.

I see that our government is going to move forward with the myth that we are facing a global warming crisis, this is caused by humans, and that getting “gas guzzlers” off the road is going to help to save the world. I’m almost OK with this myth, as long as it doesn’t cost me money. In the past eight months, I have bought digital television for people, homes, and now cars. Next, I’m going to be buying them health care. Is anyone else starting to get a little annoyed? I ride a bicycle. Anyone want to help me buy a new car? I didn’t think so. And, I wouldn’t accept the offer even if you did.

It’s a little funny to me since I don’t own a car, home, or have digital television. In fact, I have no television, except for one channel telling me in english I need a converter box and the other telling me in Spanish.

Our government has failed us. They have violated the intent of the Constitution. They have raped the Consitution in order to buy themselves more votes in the next election. And, our fellow Americans are allowing them to do this. Every person who takes advantage of a government handout, no matter what form that handout takes, is a thief and a traitor. You have granted our government the power to steal from me to benefit you. This isn’t about the environment for the people cashing in. This is about getting a cheap car.

And, I’m sure more of my money will be allowed to flow into their coffers. Can anyone explain to me why I am being penalized for doing things right? Why am I paying higher taxes to subsidize those who spent beyond their means? Why am I being taxed in order to give people new cars to prevent man-made global warming, which hasn’t even been scientifically proven?

The message to America is clear: spend too much on all of the wrong things and sit back. America will support you. The “government” will support you. And, by government, they mean your neighbors. Look around. The next time you’re at a party remind yourselves it is those same people you are stealing from in order to keep the home you shouldn’t have bought and the car you didn’t need.

This whole program is a perfect example of how out of control our government is. Wondering if Obama and the Dems are pro or anti-capitalism? This should answer the question. They have, once again, warped the marketplace in order to achieve the goals they deem worthy. What a disgrace.

UPDATE: I’m sure those brainiacs on CH thought this was enough money. I’m sure they had budget estimates. If their cash for clunkers program can go this wildly over budget, what the eff do you think is going to happen if they pass this health care bill?

Think about it. One billion dollars was supposed to last until November. It has paid out in about a week. What “does that tell you about the one trillion dollars for their health care “reform”? Are you starting to get a clue? No matter what price they put on it, it will costs way more. I better start having children, our government needs them!

Blue Dogs sell votes
Posted at 3:42 pm, in: Health Care

Looks oike the Democrat leadership finally found the Blue Dog’s price:

A group of fiscally conservative House Democrats announced Wednesday they had reached a deal with the chamber’s Democratic leaders on a bill that would revamp the nation’s health care system.

Rep. Mike Ross of Arkansas, speaking for four of the Blue Dog Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said Wednesday that the agreement called for the panel to begin debating the bill later in the day, but for the full House not to vote until after the August recess.

Ross and the Blue Dogs had threatened to derail the bill in the committee because of concerns that it costs too much and fails to address systemic problems in the nation’s ailing health care industry. It was not immediately clear Wednesday if other Blue Dogs beyond the four represented by Ross would agree to the deal he announced.

The term “fiscally conservative Democrat” is an oxymoron. There’s no such thing. And, I’m not going to get into the blatant bias of CNN’s reporting on the issue. How do they know that this bill is going to “revamp the nation’s health care system”? It’s going to kill the nation’s health care system. I guess that can be considered revamping.

I wonder what the 10 items on the list were, and I wonder what was actually agreed to. Where’s the transparency at? Supposedly, whatever it is it’s supposed to save $100 billion. With a bill that’s being estimated as costing over $1 trillion, that amount is almost laughable. I wonder what their price was to sell out their constituents. How much is a vote supporting this bill worth in Congress? Unfortunately, I’m sure we’ll never know. CNN, here’s an idea, why don’t you go do some investigating and report that.

Later in the article it mentioned Obama’s tour of the country to push health care. CNN reported that at a town hall meeting in Raleigh, NC, today, Obama said, “”No one is talking about some government takeover. I’m tired of hearing that. … These folks need to stop scaring everybody.”

Funny how the Fearmonger-in-Chief is talking about other people scaring everybody. That’s all he does. Everything is a crisis and demands action, now. And, not just any action, but action that furthers the liberal agenda. This is garbage. Our health care system might need some reform, but this bill is not the solution to the health care problem.

I’m sick of being characterized as against health care reform just because I’m against this health care reform. This will lead to a single-payer system. Laws are implemented incrementally. They are laying the groundwork for moving toward a single-payer system. I’m against that. I’m also against my paycheck being raped because someone else can’t afford health insurance. That’s not my problem. I didn’t work my way through college and grad school to get the job I have so that some loser could have the government steal from me and reward them. Why am I to be punished because I worked hard? That’s about as un-American as it gets.

Thank you Chris for this video.

Obama gets it wrong, again.

Once again, Obama misconstrues the situation:

President Barack Obama is soldiering on — apparently unfazed by growing dissension within his own party’s ranks over health care reform.

Despite increasing signs that Democrats in Congress will not meet the August 7 deadline originally imposed by Obama for passage of health care reform legislation, Obama is challenging his political opponents to explain their opposition to reforming the nation’s health care system.

“I know there are those who are urging us to delay reform,” Obama says in his weekly address out Saturday. “And some of them have actually admitted that this is a tactic designed to stop any reform at all. Some have even suggested that, regardless of its merits, health care reform should be stopped as a way to inflict political damage on my Administration. I’ll leave it to them to explain that to the American people.”

Not one person has said they want to defeat this health care bill for the sole purpose of hurting Obama’s image. People have acknowledged, however, that the defeat of this bill wouldn’t be good for him politically. That’s not exactly the same thing.

Also, it’s not that people are against reforming the system, they are just against the reform now being offered in this horendous bill that will do nothing but break the private health industry and will eventually result in the socializing of health care in America. Once again, that’s not exactly the same.

I’m all for reforming the health care industry. We all admit that there are problem, but I just don’t think this bill is the way to solve them. The government created the current sitution. We need less government, not more.

No vote in Congress is a win for America. Let’s kill this bill! Here is how…

No vote before recess is good news for America:

The Senate will not vote on health care reform legislation before the August congressional recess, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday.

“We’ll come back in the fall,” Reid said at a Capitol Hill news conference.

“I think that it’s better to have a product that is one that’s based on quality and thoughtfulness rather than trying to jam something through.”

This is our opportunity to make a difference. And, by “our” I don’t mean Republicans, as I don’t consider myself one. This is our opportunity as Americans to tell our representatives what we think of these ridiculous bills being passed, not just health care.

Democrat of Republican, everyone has to be realizing by now what is happening to America. Other than campaign promises made to the most liberal members of his party (think closing Gitmo and overturning DOMA), Obama has not been keeping his campaign promises to the American public.

Transparency is non-existent. What happened to letting the public view a bill for five days before he signed it? Broke that promise on the first bill and has continued to break it. As Michelle Malkinkeeps saying, “Obama lied, transparency died!” Corruption scandals are popping up everywhere, even if the MSM isn’t reporting on it. The deficit has ballooned. He is saddling our children with more debt than we can even comprehend.

We can’t stop him for three and a half more years (Yeah, I know. Hard to believe this much damage has been caused in only six months. Think of what more will happen if we don’t stop this now), but we can stop members of Congress by letting them know the votes won’t be there the next time around if they vote yes on bills that will break our country economically.

Can I declare August official Tea Party month? I mean, if every person took one day off of work every single day, that would have to send a message. A large group once every couple of months says something, but even if everyday there is at least one different person there to remind them they are not guaranteed reelection, that will have to have an impact. And, let’s do some large parties, too. Find every event they are doing in your state and be there. August recess is our time to take the power back!

Social Security: Welfare for old people.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a huge Simpsons fan. Every night I try to get in an episode or two before I go to bed. I don’t really care for the Halloween episodes and usually skip over them, but I’m doing other things so I just let it go. I had to laugh and share this with you.

The set up: It’s Bart’s birthday and grandpa’s present to him is a big box of money.

Marge Simpson: Where did you get all the money?

Grandpa: The government. I didn’t earn it. I don’t need it. But, if they miss one payment I’m gonna raise hell!

Social security, welfare for old people. More honesty than you would get from your average welfare recipient, though. It’s so refreshing!

Tragic HMO Riots of 1999

Sometimes a person says something so funny I wish I was the person who had said it. From The Other McCain:

And, just before they went to a commercial break, Matthews said something extraordinarily stupid, even for him:

Something must be done about health care, he said, “or this society’s not going to hold together.”

Eh?

Of course, we all remember the tragic HMO riots of 1999, the deadly terrorist attacks by the pharmaceutical lobby, the ongoing carnage in urban America caused by rival gangs of health-insurance lobbyists. The prospect of more such violent turmoil is surely what Matthews had in mind.

Now, obviously that last paragraph was the funny part, but I had to give you the lead up. Chris Matthews is an idiot. That’s what I should have said to him when my friend interrupted him on a Friday night at Hawk & Dove for a picture. Instead, I bothered him for a picture, too. Then, I went to the bar next door and told a bunch of interns he was there so that they would go interrupt him, too.

Amendments excluding abortion have been rejected!

Looks like the politicians are demanding specific language against the use of government funds for abortions:

The contentious health care reform debate intensified Wednesday as a bipartisan group of congressmen opposed to abortion pledged to fight any bill that fails to exclude the procedure from the scope of government-defined benefits.

“This issue is not about party politics. It’s not about obstructionism. It is about saving lives and protecting pro-life Americans across the country,” Rep. Joe Pitts, R-Pennsylvania, said.

“American taxpayers should not be forced to pay for abortion. Nor should they be forced to be unwitting participants as the abortion industry uses [the health care debate] to mainstream the destruction of human life into America’s health care industry.”

The group argued that, under the current version of the House Democratic leadership’s bill, most Americans ultimately would be forced to participate in a plan that covers abortion services. They complained that amendments specifying the exclusion of abortion mandates and subsidies had already been rejected by two of the three House committees handling health care legislation.

“Without an explicit exclusion, abortion will [eventually] be determined to be included in [the] benefits standards” by either Congress or the courts, Pitts predicted. He cited the example of Medicaid, which federal courts ruled had to cover abortion services until Congress passed legislation stating otherwise.

American public, are you paying attention? This is their plan. They write these huge bills that no one is expected to read and they either sneak in language or omit language that advances their liberal agenda. It is no mistake that abortion has not been addressed in the bill. They couldn’t fit in a single sentence about it in over one thousand pages?

As I said earlier today and two weeks ago, with explicit language denying the use of government funds (read: your tax dollars) to be us for abortion, women will use your money to kill their unborn kids.

Even if that is the only reason a member of Congress votes no on this health care reform bill that’s a pretty darn good reason in my mind. I’m not against health care reform. I’m against the health care reform that is being presented to us and it turns my stomach to think that one of my pay from one of my workdays may go to fund the taking of an innocent human life.

So, states’ rights exist when it comes to restricting guns? I see.
Posted at 3:42 pm, in: States' Rights

So, Apparently, when it comes to gun-control, states have rights:

In a rare recent win for gun-control advocates, the Senate Wednesday rejected a measure allowing a person with a concealed-weapon permit in one state to also hide his firearm when visiting another state.

The vote was 58-39 in favor of the provision establishing concealed carry permit reciprocity in the 48 states that have concealed-weapons laws. That fell two votes short of the 60 needed to approve the measure, offered as an amendment to a defense-spending bill.

Opponents prevailed in their argument that the measure violated states’ rights by forcing states with stringent requirements for permits to recognize concealed-weapons carriers from states that give out permits to almost any gun owner.

“This is no minor shift in policy,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., whose state requires people to be fingerprinted, get gun training and to undergo a federal background check before issuing permits. “It in fact would be a sweeping change and I think with some deadly consequences.”

Just to be clear about this, the two darling issues of the left–abortion and gay rights, neither of which are guaranteed by the Constitution–are supposed to be forced upon every state by the federal government, but gun rights, the rights that are actually very clearly written in the Constitution, are not? Since when do the Democrats and liberals care about states’ rights? Oh, only when it fits their purpose. I get it.

It was a sweeping change with some deadly consequences when the Supreme Court decided to invent a right to privacy that included the slaughter of the unborn. In fact, since Roe v. Wade there are have been over 50 million deadly consequences, yet I doubt I would hear Feinstein advocate states’ rights in that debate if one state were trying to restrict access to abortion.

And, what about gay “marriage”? Currently, one state does not have to recognize a gay couple’s “marriage” or civil union from another state. Libs and Dems want to force that upon other people. In fact, the state of MA is suing the federal government in order to force all 50 states to recognize it. I doubt we’ll hear Feinstein and the Dems talking about states’ rights then.

It is just amazing to me that they are willing to violate state sovereignty for reasons that are not explicitly spelled out in the Constitution, but speak out for states’ rights when their goal is to take away those rights that were explicitly spelled out in the Constitution. Beautiful!

Campaign against government funded abortion is launched

Anti-abortion groups are launching a three week campaign against Obama’s health care reform:

A coalition of anti-abortion groups is set to open a new front against Democrats’ efforts to restructure American health care, claiming the plans open a back door to publicly financed abortions.

The groups, which are launching a broad campaign on the issue this week, claim that existing health care proposals constitute a stealth “abortion mandate” that will spend taxpayer money on abortions and require insurance companies to cover abortions — allegations that health care reform supporters call misleading.

“President Obama keeps on talking about common ground, and there is really, really common ground on funding issues,” said Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life, the group organizing the planned three-week campaign on the issue. “Almost no one wants to fund abortion, regardless of their position on abortion as a whole.”

As I said a couple of weeks back, this health care reform bill will lead to taxpayer funded abortion. Yoest is correct in the assertion that no matter how people feel personally about the issue, they almost all agree they don’t want their money being used for it. Democrats will deny that the health care bill authorizes the use of government funds for abortion and they’ll actually be telling the truth. The truth is, abortion is never mentioned in the bill. All of those pages and this very serious issue isn’t addressed.

I believe that this is being done on purpose. If language allowing taxpayer dollars to fund abortion was added to the bill, there would be outrage and opposition. The absence of the language leaves a huge whole in the bill that will lead to the use of our tax dollars to fund abortion. The only way to ensure that this doesn’t happen is for language to be added to the bill specifically prohibiting it.

Obama, who views the unborn as a punishment and thinks it’s perfectly acceptable to toss away babies who survive abortions as if they are nothing more than a piece of garbage and allow them to perish, has no problem with using my money to allow women to kill their unborn babies. I hope that the American public does and I hope they let their elected officials know this.
