Social Security: Welfare for old people.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a huge Simpsons fan. Every night I try to get in an episode or two before I go to bed. I don’t really care for the Halloween episodes and usually skip over them, but I’m doing other things so I just let it go. I had to laugh and share this with you.

The set up: It’s Bart’s birthday and grandpa’s present to him is a big box of money.

Marge Simpson: Where did you get all the money?

Grandpa: The government. I didn’t earn it. I don’t need it. But, if they miss one payment I’m gonna raise hell!

Social security, welfare for old people. More honesty than you would get from your average welfare recipient, though. It’s so refreshing!

  1. It’s intriguing that you get your opinion(s) from a cartoon; as you know and as you are doing to date, money is removed from your pocket (e.g., paycheck) for Social Security. I didn’t ask the .gov to do this, but for 50 years, they made certain that I “gave”. Well, Sparky, now it’s payback time for all the money I “donated” for the past 2,600 paychecks (52X50). Welfare? Hell, no…they took my money and now’s the payback. Welfare? That’s only for the leeches who’ve never worked or paid a dime into the .gov. We’ve got 50 yrs of credit due us, so you continue to watch ur cartoons, youngun!!

  2. Glad you are getting your due. Ive been paying into it for 30+ years and I wont see a dime of it. Since its going to be defunct in 2013.
Of course I already prepared for this and have a savings account set up since I knew it would of been long gone back when I was 22. Ive totally accept this since I have been “Donating” this money and will never see a dime returned to me.
But you enjoy your money gramps. Buy some sea bond denturite with it or maybe some new diapers.

  3. This is the opposite of honesty. This is a big lie. More right-wing/gov’t propaganda from Fox. Social security is a self-funding program. Employee’s and employers paid trillions of dollars in taxes to pay for social security. Social security taxes were raised in the 80s by Reagan and Greenspan, and an ginormous $2.6 trillion dollars of surplus social security taxes has been accumulated in the social security trust fund to pay for the baby boomer’s retirement. That money has been “invested” in special-issue US gov’t securities that both parties want to default on and turn into worthless IOUs.
