Pawlenty: Another bad choice for Republicans in 2012.
So, Tim Pawlenty thinks he can win the presidency:
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been quietly assembling the blueprint of a presidential campaign and will announce Thursday the support of a group of high-level political strategists and donors, complemented by a handful of top new media consultants, POLITICO has learned.
Pawlenty, under the radar of D.C.’s political community, has locked up some of the key operatives who engineered then-President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign — a significant feat for a little-known Midwestern politician.
The moves underscore, and will lend credence to, the emerging belief among many establishment Republicans that Pawlenty is becoming the sole viable alternative to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a potential Republican primary rival. The Minnesota governor has even gone so far as to contact some of Romney’s former supporters.
I don’t much care for Tim Pawlenty. Why? I think he’s too much in the mold of John McCain and that his most famous phrase (Sam’s Clubs Republicans) is insulting to anyone that he would probably assign to that category. Insulting people is not a good way to win their vote.
I’m going to add Gov. Pawlenty to my list of Repubilcan possibilities for 2012 who shouldn’t run. The Republicans shouldn’t even consider it. When a Republican is too liberal, which I believe Pawlenty just may be, based on some things I have read, Republicans lose. We cannot go back to the days of “me-too” Republicanism because that brand of Republicanism fails. When is the party going to get that?
So, since we’re obviously going to be throwing away our votes, again, in 2012, I suggest that people throw their votes away on me. I’m serious. I voted for myself in the last presidential election, because I am the only person I can believe in. I realize that I have no chance in winning, but I think it will be fun to see how much support I can get, not that I’ll every know who voted for me. Anyway, Stuart in 2012!
