More “stimulus” to come? Probably, they just won’t be calling it that.Posted at 12:10 pm, in: Spending

CNNMoney.com reports that Democrats are going to attempt to stimulate the economy, again, except this time they’ll do it incrementally, in smaller portions, and hope that no one becomes the wiser:
You won’t see it all in one neat package. And you won’t hear the White House call it stimulus.
But there’s a good chance lawmakers will decide to extend some of the stimulus measures included in the $787 billion economic recovery package passed in February and possibly create some new ones as well.
On Wednesday, House Democrats are convening a forum of economists to debate the state of the economy, with a specific focus on job creation. And lawmakers are convening hearings on Capitol Hill this week to discuss the economic outlook and the state of the housing market.
A number of ideas on the table are lifeline measures, while some are flat-out incentives to spur economic activity.
The costs are probably wrong and I’m sure will be much higher than anticipated. I don’t know why we’re extending employment benefits. It sucks you can’t find a job and, admittedly, part (the whole?) problem was created by those morons in Washington, but the people who screwed this up cannot fix it just by throwing money at the unemployed. I didn’t vote these idiots into office and I didn’t create the current economic situation so I shouldn’t be paying for your benefits to be extended.
People need Find another solution. And, adding on a tax to employers is not the solution, either. That will lead to them hiring less, paying less, and jacking up their prices. When trying to create jobs, this might not be the best plan. Businesses don’t pay taxes, they pass them onto the consumer. Higher prices means consumers will buy less, which will lead to needing less employees and end up with more layoffs.
Why are we going to send seniors $250 checks? The reason there is no cost-of-living adjustment is because of the lack of inflation. I’m not quite clear why we’re throwing money at them. Is it because they’re old and opposed to this monstrous health care bill and Obama is trying to buy their votes? That’s just ridiculous, especially at a cost of $13 billion according to White House estimates. Does anyone have any faith in their estimates? I don’t.
Please, read the whole article. At this point, I would love a Congress that did nothing because everything these people want to do is some quick fix solution with long term implications that will leave us worse off than we are now. They claim this is temporary, but we all know it’s not. Just remember, social security was supposed to be temporary, too.
