Planned Parenthood changes business model: tough economy = forget prevention, push abortion!
Abby Johnson, Planned Parenthood Director of their Bryan, Texas clinic, resigned on October 6. After watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure she decided, after eight years, it was time to leave:
Planned Parenthood has been a part of Abby Johnson’s life for the past eight years; that is until last month, when Abby resigned. Johnson said she realized she wanted to leave, after watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure.
“I just thought I can’t do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that’s it,” said Jonhson.
According to Johnson, the non-profit was struggling under the weight of a tough economy, and changing it’s business model from one that pushed prevention, to one that focused on abortion.
“It seemed like maybe that’s not what a lot of people were believing any more because that’s not where the money was. The money wasn’t in family planning, the money wasn’t in prevention, the money was in abortion and so I had a problem with that,” said Johnson.
Johnson said she was told to bring in more women who wanted abortions, something the Episcopalian church goer recently became convicted about.
Better late than never, I suppose. Not that I don’t see the value in people leaving these slaughter houses, but their positions will just be filled by another heartless soul out to boost their incomes.
It is interesting this story came out today. I just spent the weekend writing the last chapter of my thesis, which happens to be about the fact that the abortion industry is just that, an industry. That there are plenty of people involved to make money, not to preserve a “woman’s tight to choose,” for some reason, seems to be groundbreaking news.
On Friday night I read a book by another woman who worked in the industry and decided to leave, Blood Money: Getting Rich Off a Woman’s Right to Choose, by Carol Everett. It’s brutal, but it should be required reading, especially for those who call themselves “pro-choice.”
It’s one thing to think that women should have the option to have an abortion if their life is in danger, if there a genetic defect in the child, or if the child is the result of rape or incest. It is completely another to believe that a woman should be able to get an abortion for any reason, at any time. It is pure stupidity to think that the abortion clinics out there aren’t exploiting these women in order to make a quick buck. It’s the natural conclusion to the abortion right’s campaign.
If it’s not a baby, just a “fetus,” and there’s nothing wrong with aborting it, what’s wrong with making money off of that abortion? If you’re going to be in the baby-killing business, shouldn’t you be able to get rich while doing it? It’s not a baby, remember? So, what’s wrong with people building their fortunes on it?
Some would argue that Planned Parenthood isn’t about abortion, but about family planning services. This is false and it is naive for people to believe that. Although, according to their own report, abortion only accounted for 3% of their income in 2007, most of their business is geared toward abortion. Giving a teenager birth control pills isn’t about preventing a pregnancy; it’s about creating a moral hazard that ensures a pregnancy and building brand loyalty so when that child ends up pregnant they end up back at PP for the abortion. But, you pro-choicers, as you euphemistically call yourselves, continue to tell yourselves the big lie that Planned Parenthood is here to help. They are here to destroy lives, and not just of the babies they shove down drains with garbage disposals.
Ed Morrissey has more on the story (thanks, Track!)

If JHU accepts my thesis, perhaps I’ll post it on the site. At the very least, I’ll try to put up the last chapter, since that’s the only chapter that truly matters. You should also keep your eyes open for the release of the movie Blood Money. And, if you really want to know how sick and twisted the industry is, you should know that the abortion isn’t the only thing making these monsters money. Selling the babies body parts after is a thriving business, as well.
