Abortion for sale; Taxpayers expected to pay the bill.

Of course it’s Planned Parenthood pushing against the restriction on federal funding financing abortion. I wonder why? Maybe it’s because they stand to lose the most if federal taxdollars aren’t allowed to be used for abortion:

Abortion-rights advocates are calling in the cavalry to help fight off an anti-abortion provision House Democratic leaders swallowed in order to win passage of their health care reform bill.

Laurie Rubiner, vice president of policy for the Planned Parenthood Federation, said the tight restriction on public funding for abortions “has completely galvanized the reproductive health community and the women’s community.”

On Tuesday, Planned Parenthood summoned 80 progressive groups to plot strategy for keeping the anti-abortion amendment — named for sponsors Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) and Joseph Pitts (R-Pa.) — out of a final health care bill.

If that doesn’t work, Plan B is to rely on progressives in the House to vote against a bill containing the language. Forty-one House Democrats threatened to do just that in a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), according to a report by Washington Post blogger Greg Sargent.

“They passed health care reform for half the nation and partial health care reform for the rest of us,” said Terry O’Neill, president of the National Organization for Women. “We will oppose any health care bill that includes anything like Stupak/Pitts.”

First of all, the Stupak amendment is not an “anti-abortion” amendment. It doesn’t prohibit, outlaw, or restrict abortion in any way. All it does is prevent my tax dollars from paying for some slut’s abortion. But, that’s a losing battle, so let the press and the politicians call it whatever the hell they want.

We all know I’m way too close to this issue, but this is absurd. I think that most Americans, whether they support a “woman’s right to choose” or not don’t want their money used to pay for women to get an elective abortion (that would be one that is not medically necessary).

It is no wonder that Planned Parenthood is pushing the issue, though, because they stand to make a lot of money if there are no restrictions placed on federal funding of abortions in the new health care bill. Realistically, this wouldn’t be a problem, but since the government is overstepping its bounds by inserting itself where it has no constitutional authority to do so, here we find ourselves.

I find abortion to be morally reprehensible. Now, with that said, I’m willing to give a little. If the life/health of the mother is in jeopardy (and by health, I don’t mean her psychological or financial health, I mean if she is physically in danger), if testing shows there is a severe fetal defect and the baby will die anyway (and no, I’m not talking about mental retardation. I’m talking about a baby with a genetic defect that will lead to its death shortly, if not immediately, after being born), or if the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest (which, to be honest, I don’t think justifies abortion, but I’m willing to cede the point), then there is an argument that insurance plans should cover these medically necessary procedures.

Unfortunately, about 97 percent of abortions performed in our country are not for any of the reasons above. Most women having abortions are having them because they broke up with the father, they can’t afford it, they already have all of the kids they want, and the list goes on. Frivolously, they take the life of their child because for whatever reason they deem the pregnancy and the child to be an inconvenience. I don’t want it on my conscience that my money is funding these abortions. I don’t want my government forcing my compliance in this crime against humanity.

And, all of this wouldn’t be an issue if the government would get the hell out of health care where they don’t effing belong. Their special interest groups are looking for their payoff, and they are looking for the government to use our tax dollars to settle the bill. And the bill will never be settled. These groups will never be satisfied, always demanding more money and more capitulation from the politicians who have sold their souls to them for some campaign cash. It wasn’t bad enough for Pelosi, Obama, Reid, et., al. to sell their own souls to Planned Parenthood. Now, they want to sell the souls of the unborn, too, with taxpayers funding the sale.
