Will the real Carrie Prejean, please, stand up?

Well, we sure know how to pick them. The truth is, I don’t care that Carrie Prejean took semi-topless pictures or that she let somebody tape her solo act. All of this is none of my business. What bothers is me is that I think she uses her Christianity in order to boost her career and to shield her from judgment.

She sounds like a moron in this interview. She has not been “Palined.” Sarah Palin was portrayed as a moron, but I don’t think she is actually that stupid. At least, I don’t think she is as stupid as the media portrays her. On the other hand, I think that the media doesn’t have to portray Prejean as a moron, she does that pretty well herself. I don’t have kids, but if I had a daughter this chick would not be held up as her role model.

Larry King is simply asking a question: why did she settle? He didn’t come out and ask her why she made a solo porn tape. He didn’t ask her for details about the movie or who was taping it for her. How old was she when she made it? How did it get leaked to the public? And, I think all of these are legitimate questions for someone who is building her career by claiming to be a martyr, sacrificed at the altar of political correctness for her Christian beliefs. It’s what everybody watching the show wants to know.

She is clearly not acting of her own accord and being told what to do by someone off screen. She tells Larry he is being inappropriate and so he stops asking the question and goes to the phones. Then, she takes off the mic, but doesn’t walk away. She is so obviously being told what to do and she’s too stupid to have her own thoughts on what to do and stand up in walk away. What an awkward interview? I never thought I would be siding with Larry King.

I actually want her to answer the caller’s question. What would she tell a gay friend who wants to get married? Does anyone else find it absurd this chick has a book out? This isn’t some activist who has been fighting in the trenches for the past 20 years. This is some kid who answered a question the politically incorrect way. Did we really need a book to tell us the whole story? I just summed it up in one sentence.

Carrie Prejean being lionized, publishing a book, and being on TV, held up as a role model for young conservative women is what I find inappropriate, but maybe that’s just me. I’m sick of our society rewarding people with money and fame for non-accomplishments. Other than being good looking, this woman is no better than Meghan McCain.

UPDATE: I definitely do not give enough linky-love to my favorite conservative lesbian, but she showed me the love and I would like to take the opportunity to reciprocate. Apparently, there is a woman claiming to have had a lesbian relationship with Carrie’s mom. I don’t know if that’s true or not and I know that one can’t be held responsible for the actions of their parents (and, thank God for that because I couldn’t carry that burden). But, for someone who became famous for claiming to have been raised to believe that marriage is between man and a woman and not to believe in “opposite marriage,” it would be an interesting turn of events to find out that either of her parents were actually gay. Anyway, hat tip to Ms. Yockey.
