Should I file a civil rights complaint?

Moron Meghan McCain wrote a blog post last week about how proud she is of Arizona for renominating her father on the Republican ticket in the Senate race. I’m not as happy about this development. She is right about one thing, her father hasn’t changed. And, although the media has gone back and forth in their coverage of him (loving him when he’s a help to their cause, hating him when he’s trumpeting policies and positions that are a threat), the truth is, although her father hasn’t changed, the way he represents himself has. Don’t be fooled, as the Arizonans who voted for him clearly were. McCain is a liberal snake who doesn’t belong on the Republican ticket, if the Republican Party is ever to get back to what it’s supposed to represent. He campaigned to the right of his record in this primary. He spent $21 million, compared to his opponent’s $3 million. That is why he won. He used his riches to fool the electorate and they sold their votes. Bad news for Arizona and bad news for the rest of America.

All of the “Katrina-Five Years Later” coverage forgot to address a very important question: Should we be rebuilding in all of the areas destroyed? I mean, is it tragedy or stupidity when this all happens again after another storm? I’m not trying to be rude or insensitive. And, people have a right to rebuild and live there if they want, but not at my expense.

President Obama was talkin’ trash today to Senate Republicans trying to block a “small business assistance bill.” Apparently, he doesn’t get the fact that it’s his laws, his words and his party that are killing small businesses in America. If you want to help small business to create jobs and start hiring again how about getting out of their way, eliminating regulation that impedes their chances of success?

Maybe this should be a sign that you aren’t ready to retire, yet:

If you are an employer, you know how difficult it can be to find – and provide– health insurance for your retired employees who are age 55 or older and not yet eligible for Medicare.

Some Americans who retire before they are eligible for Medicare see their life savings disappear because of medical bills and exorbitant rates in the individual health insurance market. And the cost of insurance can be out of reach for individuals looking to buy health coverage on their own.

Many employers would like to help their employees make this transition comfortably and provide access to health insurance past retirement. But in these tough economic times, it is difficult for employers to keep up with skyrocketing health care costs for employees and retirees.

The Affordable Care Act’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program will make it a little easier for employers to provide high-quality health benefits to their retirees.

Early Retiree Reinsurance Program is a $5 billion program created by the Affordable Care Act to provide financial assistance for employers, including large and small businesses, state and local governments, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and labor unions that will help retirees and their spouses, surviving spouses, and dependents, as well active employees and their families, continue to have access to quality, affordable health coverage.

Of course, the problem could be solved if the government didn’t tie health insurance to employment, but the White House doesn’t want to tell you that part. Maybe they shouldn’t be retiring so early? Just another thought, although I clearly would prefer the government getting out of the insurance business, de-regulation, and the market reacting by offering us consumers more, cheaper solutions.

Breaking News: Some man who hates people just took hostages at the Discovery Channel building up in Silver Spring, MD. People polute the earth, according to his manifesto, and he wants the DC to stop airing shows that promote human breeding, preferring shows that promote sterilization, instead. First thought: he should kill himself. That would remove at least one human and would prove that one man can make a difference!

So, James Lee, the man who took the hostages at the DC was killed by police. All hostages made it out safely. Thank goodness for that!

I noticed that the Civil Rights Division at work has no Caucasians on the staff. Now, normally I wouldn’t think anything of it. But, if there’s one thing I have learned about race in America it is that where there is racial disparity there can only be racial discrimination as the cause. I have heard this argument time and again from the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and even Elena Kagan. So, I’m thinking about filling a complaint. Thoughts?

There was a story this morning on The Today Show about a man who jumped off a 40-story building in a suicide attempt only to survive after a $14,000 Dodge Charger broke his fall. The owner of the vehicle is upset with the guy and wants to ask him why her car, out of all the cars in the city? Talk about insensitive! The man tried to kill himself and all of this woman cares about is some car, which will be paid for by her insurance. She was upset that she just had the brakes fixed and had filled it up with gas. The fact that someone could be so small and selfish is surprising enough; the fact that she would be so brazen as to admit it to the press is astounding.

I sometimes think I watch The Today Show in the morning because it gets my blood boiling faster than a hot cup of coffee. This morning they spent a segment talking about Gov. Jan Brewer’s 16 second brain freeze during a debate. Who the eff cares? Is that really news? I don’t think so, but maybe it belongs on The Today Show since most of what they “report” isn’t news.

I just finished reading this book, America’s Hidden History, this morning. Just a quick read to hold me over until some new books arrive. I should be picking those up today. I don’t think most Americans realize the magnificence that is the American experiment. Too many people have no grasp on the uniqueness of what happened centuries ago in Pennsylvania and how truly amazing our republican form of democracy really is, and why we have a republic instead of a democracy. Well, maybe that’s why we really don’t have a republic anymore but have digressed into a democracy. Admittedly, I’m not a big history buff, but the more I read about American and world history, the more I realize the greatness and significance of America and the more thankful I am to be a citizen of this great nation. It’s a long weekend. I encourage everyone to go out and read a book.

The job’s report is out and the press is claiming there is a silver lining: it’s not as bad as was predicted! How’s that for good news? Following this kind of logic, I predict I’m going to gain 20 lbs this month and when I only gain 10 I’m going to pat myself on the back and eat a piece of cheesecake as my reward for doing better than I had predicted. This BEGS the question: How stupid do they think we are?
